Apple Dumpling Recipe

This mouth watering recipe is a great dessert to add to your Thanksgiving menu! It’s a delicious, warm treat that will be sure to give you all the fall vibes. These dumplings get crispy on the outside and are warm and gooey on the inside. What a great way to sneak in a serving of fruit!

Recipe:

1.Peel and core 3 large apples or 6 small apples.

2. Next, combine the following ingredients to make the dough.

Dough Ingredients:

  • 2 cups gluten free flour (we use King Arthur)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup ghee (or you can use half ghee and half applesauce!)
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

3. Mix and divide into six dough balls. Put cored, peeled apple inside and pull the dough up around the apple.

4. Make the dumpling sauce with the following ingredients:

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup ghee or grass fed butter

5. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Baste dumplings with sauce twice while baking. Let sit for 10 minutes prior to serving.

I love mine with dairy free whipped topping or dairy free ice cream! I hope you enjoy!
