We hope you enjoy our frugal healthy shopping list that we’ve compiled for you! We love making living a healthy lifestyle as easy as possible for our clients, so here’s our favorite tips and tricks for eating healthy on a budget:
- Shop seasonal produce when you can- Your local farmers market or fruit stand is full of great deals on nutritious fresh produce.
- Buy in Bulk- Consider getting a membership to a store that sells bulk products at wholesale prices like Sam’s Club, Bjs, Costo, etc. Our favorite foods to buy in bulk are: oats, rice, nuts, beans, seeds, peanut/almond butter, salt, and frozen fruits and veggies.
- Grow your own herbs- It’s easy, cheap, and you can do it right on your windowsill.
- Freeze fresh fruits and veggies before they go bad- If you know you’re not going to eat them in time, this is a great way to prevent food waste and stock up your freezer!
- Invest in a Misto- This is a great kitchen gadget that turns any oil into a mister, but without the unnecessary chemicals and price. Get it here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-5e64ee1e/list/24JP2FOA9MPJT?ref_=nav_custrec_signin
- Buy meat from a local farmer- Local, fresh meat is much more flavorful and higher quality than factory farmed meats. When you buy from the same farm repeatedly, they often honor their regular customers with discounts, and deals on bulk orders.
- Clip coupons- There’s many apps out there that allow you to search coupons whenever and wherever you like. If you’re heading out to a specific store, check their app first for coupons, and read the weekly add.
- Shop around- Take a day shopping around for your staple food items and make a list of what’s cheapest where.
- Try a subscription on things you always use- Amazon and other stores have a great subscribe and save option for products that you repeatedly buy.
- Look at loyalty programs and membership cards- Signing up for a loyalty program at the stores you shop at the most is one of the best ways to save money on groceries. Not only does it allow you to receive exclusive discounts and coupons, but most of them have a gas points rewards program as well.
